Riding a bus, with a junior college baseball team, through the sticks of Nevada, Utah and Colorado might not sound like an enjoyable excursion. After more than twenty years as a sportswriter, though, the timing was impeccable. The journey would have been Quixotic, with the young star continuing to ascend and accomplishing even more than the heavy expectations that have been heaped upon him; except, it wasn't fiction. Just as important, the supporting cast gets faces and voices. What's next? Stay tuned.
